HEMP & Cotton Line Expansion (US - Africa / Virtual)

 

Seed2Shirt team, seeks an Intern to support of our efforts to expand our apparel line expansion to HEMP & Cotton blends. The HEMP & Cotton Line Expansion Intern, will provide on-ground, and research development of industrial hemp section and its connection to textile/apparel production, research industrial hemp textile variants approved for 3 states: California, Colorado, and North Carolina, licensing cost for industrial hemp agriculture grows in 3 states: California, Colorado and North Carolina. Research will include, processing equipment required for industrial HEMP textile processing (all steps, all equipment involved and cost), evaluation of application of use in one state versus the other and viability of to market option for apparel line addition.  Intern will complete evaluation of agriculture applications of varying variants of Industrial HEMP, and assess the agriculture applicability of inclusion of HEMP production into models aligned with Seed2Shirt Farmer Enrichment program. The Intern may also support digital needs of firm supporting augmenting marketing needs and or other project based work aligned with to-market strategies and internal development needs.  


Responsibilities

Provide strategic, technical, and administrative reports on all elements of the project:

- Research development of industrial hemp section and its connection to textile/apparel production.

- Research industrial hemp textile variants approved for 3 states: California, Colorado, and North Carolina

- Identify growing, and processing licensing cost for industrial hemp agriculture grows in 3 states: California, Colorado and North Carolina (include list of Dept. of Ag Requirements for Each)

- Do a valuation of application of use in one state versus the other and viability of to market option for apparel line addition

- Complete evaluation of agriculture applications of varying variants of Industrial HEMP

- Assess the agriculture applicability of inclusion of HEMP production into models aligned with Seed2Shirt Farmer Enrichment program

- Establish and foster relationships with current Seed2Shirt Partners in the HEMP/Textile space to explore synergies of HEMP/Cotton apparel line expansion with these partners and others.

a broad network of partners, donors, practitioners, government officials, and business leaders, assimilating them and contributing to new developments relevant to the program.


The Intern may also support digital needs of firm supporting augmenting marketing needs and or other project based work aligned with to-market strategies and internal development needs.  


Weekly, Bi-monthly and Monthly reporting will be required on all key elements of the project, schedule to be coordinated


Minimum qualifications and experience

- Hold a HS Diploma and Some College or related on Job Experience;

- Have at least 2 years of experience, including 1 year in a structure supporting research and development of programs/businesses/projects;

Proven track record of working with teams and board of directors.


Qualifications desired Qualifications

-Be able to work with partners and communities in the transfer of knowledge through training workshops, meetings, and the use of participatory methods;

 Experience in budget management

- Be able to provide technical training to partners and communities;

Have a working knowledge of English;

Ability to work in remote adn hybrid in-person or rural community environment

Good computer skills, i.e., Ms. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access

Details of Internship

This is a remote, unpaid internship 2 year internship that will be evaluated at the 8 month mark on inclusion of stipend between $200-600 a month to support and contribute toward the educational evolution. Hours to be determined based on availability we are looking for a dedication of minimum 5 hours a week to teh project and internship responsibilities. . 


Job Responsibilities

Create research development reports on all topic areas, provide monthly out briefs on project and updates on any addition tasks assigned. Support management and work with team on business development (gain national/international) experience.
